You don’t need hours of silence or a perfect morning routine to lead your life with purpose. Sometimes, all it takes is five minutes, and a few honest questions. This reflection ritual is drawn directly from the REL Way guidebooks. It’s designed for real life: noisy homes, crowded buses, lunch breaks, or quiet corners before bed. It helps you pause, reset, and lead with clarity, courage, and compassion, even when everything around you feels uncertain.
The Ritual: 3 Questions, 5 Minutes
Grab a notebook, a scrap of paper, or just sit quietly with your thoughts. Ask yourself:
1. What am I feeling right now? Not what you should feel. What’s actually there, tiredness, hope, frustration or joy. Naming it is the first step toward clarity.
2. What matters most today? Choose one thing, not ten. What’s the priority that aligns with your values, not just your to-do list?
3. How can I lead with courage and compassion? Whether you’re parenting, working, studying, or surviving, what’s one way you can show up with strength and heart?
REL in REAL Life: A Story from Texas
Thandi is a 22-year-old student and part-time caregiver in Houston, Texas. She started using this ritual during her morning commute. One day, she felt overwhelmed, her exams were approaching, her younger sister was sick, and she hadn’t slept well.
Instead of spiraling, she paused.
She named her feeling: anxious and tired.
She chose her priority: helping her sister feel safe.
She asked herself how to lead: by staying calm and present, even if she couldn’t fix everything.
That day, she skipped a study session to sit with her sister and read aloud from a favorite book. Later, she felt more grounded, and studied with more focus. That’s the power of reflection. That’s the REL Way.
Try It Today
